RSVP Now for Our Open Data and Laser Cutting Workshop February 26th

RSVP Link: https://mm_opendatalc022617.eventbrite.com/

Date: Sunday, February 26th

Cost: $13

Map nerds, open data enthusiasts, and laser lovers, unite … to get creative with open data. We will start with a brief introduction to open data initiatives and how to find open data that can be freely incorporated into your creative projects. You will then get hands-on with TileMill and Inkscape/Illustrator to design files based on open data.

The teacher will be able to laser cut a basic open data design into wood or acrylic. Because laser-cutting can be time-consuming, there will also be a selection of pre-made objects for you to take home.

Students should bring: A PC/Linux computer with Inkscape or Illustrator and Tilemill installed. A USB stick if they have one. https://tilemill-project.github.io/tilemill/

Note: This is not a laser cutter certification. The teacher will be operating the laser cutter during the course.

About the Instructor:
Erika Rydberg has been working in community and academic makerspace development since 2013. She sells her work at www.lasersoflove.com and you can find more information about her at her slow loading website www.erikarydberg.com
